Measles is extremely contagious! Luckily we have a well validated vaccine with 97% efficacy, the MMR. It’s so important that everyone who can get vaccinated, does so, in order to protect the small percentage of the population that either doesn’t respond well to the vaccine, or who cannot get vaccinated. Let’s work together to stay healthy!

Visiting or going out with newborns can feel really overwhelming. Their immune system is still developing as is the blood/brain barrier, and they have yet to be vaccinated, this leaves them much more vulnerable to bacteria and viruses. A sniffle for an adult, can turn into a hospital visit for a newborn Here are a few tips if you want to avoid illness as much as possible, Get your vaccines and boosters; I got flu, covid, dtap and RSV during my pregnancy, and I got boosters for everyone in the house as well. Wash those hands! Everyone, from guests to my 2 toddlers washes their hands when they come into my house. I know babies are smushy and adorable, but please don’t kiss their hands or faces. Finally, if someone is unwell, they should avoid visiting until they have been symptom free for 1-2 weeks. I don’t even have to ask, if grandma feels a sniffle, she either stays home or wears a mask. I have 2 toddlers, some illness is going to be inevitable, but we can all do our best to avoid as many illnesses as possible. If the toddlers are sick, we can’t kick them out lol. It’s -27 celsius today, but we can use the above techniques, as well as 3x daily nasal saline spray which may reduce the duration of their illness as well as the likelihood of passing it on. Stay well everyone!

Quick and easy, no oven needed, loaded with fibre and nutrients and so cute. What else could you possibly ask for in a holiday treat?
Holiday No-Bake Brownie Bites! The bites are refined sugar free, and full of nutrients and chocolatey goodness. Normally I just throw in some chocolate chips, but I decided to dress them up for Christmas, so I left out the chocolate chips and dipped them in chocolate instead. Either way, they are so good. I used decaf, because I have littles that will be nibbling on these, but use whatever you have!

No Bake Brownie Bites

2 cups medjool dates (about 14)
1 cup nuts of choice (I used mixed unsalted nuts from Costco)
¼ cup chia seeds (whole or ground)
2 Tbsp ground Flax seed
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (optional)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp instant espresso (I used decaf)
Pinch salt

Whiz all the ingredients up in a food processor, then add about 1 cup of chocolate chips and roll into balls. In this case I left the chips out and dipped the brownie bites in chocolate instead. You’ll need about ¾ cup of dark and ¾ cup of white chocolate to make all the shapes that I did.
I used a small ice-cream school to measure out the portions and then molded each into a pinecone, ornament, snow man or tree! I hope you enjoy these as much as we do.

Super Seed Granola
5 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup date powder
1 cup almonds, chopped
1/2 cup Pecans
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds (optional)
1/4 cup chia seeds
2 Tbsp ground flax seeds
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp mixed spices (optional - I used nutmeg, star anise, cloves, ginger and cardamom)
A pinch of salt
2 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
1/4 cup cocoa butter or coconut oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup unsweetened applesauce

Preheat your oven to 300°F (160°C).In a large bowl, mix oats, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, date powder, spices and flax seeds. In a saucepan, warm honey or maple syrup, cocoa butter, vanilla extract, applesauce, and a pinch of salt until well combined. Pour the liquid mixture over the dry ingredients and stir until everything is evenly coated. Spread the mixture on a baking sheet and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until golden brown, you can stir it around at the half way mark if the edges are looking too brown. Allow the granola to cool, then add dried cranberries or your favorite dried fruit. Store in an airtight container and enjoy with yogurt, milk, or as a snack!

These chocolate peanut butter skulls are the perfect, no fuss halloween treat. Great for Halloween parties, or snacking! We have a sesame allergy in our house, so we do a lot of homemade treats as the ones we pick up trick-or-treating aren’t always safe. On that note, the peanut butter can be replaced with sunbutter or wow butter if needed, though the taste will be slightly different. I would omit the maple syrup if the peanut/sunbutter is sweetened.

These chocolate peanut butter skulls are the perfect, no fuss halloween treat. Great for Halloween parties, or snacking! We have a sesame allergy in our house, so we do a lot of homemade treats as the ones we pick up trick-or-treating aren’t always safe. On that note, the peanut butter can be replaced with sunbutter or wow butter if needed, though the taste will be slightly different. I would omit the maple syrup if the peanut/sunbutter is sweetened.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Skulls

1 cup peanut natural butter
1/4-1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt (optional)

Pumpkin Apple upside down Cake

For the Caramel apples
¼ cup maple syrup
½ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla bean paste (or extract)
Mix and pour into an 8 inch square pan.
Top with 2 sliced apples (I used Cortland)

For the pumpkin Cake
2 cups whole what pastry flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp each nutmeg and cloves
½ tsp ground ginger
Mix and set aside

In a separate bowl mix
3 ripe bananas
1 cup pumpkin puree
2 eggs
¼ cup oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup milk of choice
½ cup date powder
Add the flour mixture and stir until combined.
Pour on top of the sliced apples and bake at 350F (175C) for 35-30 minutes. Let cool for 10-15 minutes, then loosen the cake from the sides of the pan and be brave! Flip, flip hooray!

Up to 1 ½ cups of add ins (dried fruits, chocolate, seeds, flax etc)
I added:
2 Tbsp Flax meal
2 Tbsp white chia seeds
¼ cup chopped pumpkin seeds
1/3 cup dried cherries
¼ cup dark chocolate chips
Pour the maple syrup mixture over the oat mixture and stir well.
Bake at 350F (175C) for 10-15 minutes
Slice and enjoy!

I have done this test with all 3 of my children, as recommended by my obgyn. I have seen a lot of people online suggesting that the drink is unsafe, that people shouldn’t test because it’s unhealthy or that doctors get kickbacks for suggesting these types of tests. I thought it was important to show that doctors and science communicators don’t just recommend that tests be done where medically indicated, we do them ourselves. Which definitely pokes a big hole in those conspiracy theories. Also, I live in Canada, which has a public healthcare system. The government is not going to pay for unnecessary tests, and drug companies are not allowed to advertise.

I know that it’s not fall yet, but boy did my zucchini vines go crazy this summer. If you’re looking for a fabulous, hidden veggie breakfast, stop scrolling now. This cake is full of grated zucchini, whole grains and warm spices, and it is so delicious. Serve it for breakfast on the go, or as a dessert, topped with sauteed apples and yogourt.

Apple zucchini Bread

1 ½ cups whole wheat pastry flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon fresh nutmeg, optional
½ cup date powder
2 Tbsp maple syrup
¼-cup coconut oil, melted
2 large eggs (or flax eggs)
¼ cup plain yogourt of choice
¼ cup milk of choice (I used chickpea)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup grated zucchini (squeezed to removed excess liquid)
1 cup grated apples

Preheat oven to 350F (175C)
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Combine the date powder, maple syrup, coconut oil, eggs, yogurt and vanilla.
Stir in the grated zucchini and apples.
Pour the batter into the previously prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 40-50minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Remove from oven and cool in the pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes.
Cool for 20 minutes before removing from the pan to finish cooling.

Optional Sauteed apple topping

4-5 apples, cut into chunks
2 Tablespoons maple syrup
½ tsp cinnamon
½ Tablespoon oil
Cook in in a pan for 5 mins or until the apples are soft and caramelized.

Craving something sweet but don’t want to turn on the oven? Say hello to my No-Bake Turtle Brownie Bark! This indulgent treat combines rich, fudgy brownie, gooey caramel, and crunchy pecans, all drizzled with chocolate. It’s the perfect easy dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth! You can replace some of the almond butter powder with chocolate protein powder and it still tastes fab! I actually used the viral olive oil caramel, and it’s delicious, but honestly I don’t love the
way it separates over time. So next time I’ll use date caramel, or coconut dulce de leche. The brownie is very sticky, it helps to either wet your hands a bit or use another piece of parchment to press it down.

Turtle Brownie Bark

1 cup medjool dates
3 Tbsp ground chia seeds
2 Tbsp ground flax seeds
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup milk of choice (I used chickpea for extra protein)

Craving something sweet but don’t want to turn on the oven? Say hello to my No-Bake Turtle Brownie Bark! This indulgent treat combines rich, fudgy brownie, gooey caramel, and crunchy pecans, all drizzled with chocolate. It’s the perfect easy dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth! You can replace some of the almond butter powder with chocolate protein powder and it still tastes fab! I actually used the viral olive oil caramel, and it’s delicious, but honestly I don’t love the
way it separates over time. So next time I’ll use date caramel, or coconut dulce de leche. The brownie is very sticky, it helps to either wet your hands a bit or use another piece of parchment to press it down.

Turtle Brownie Bark

1 cup medjool dates
3 Tbsp ground chia seeds
2 Tbsp ground flax seeds
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup milk of choice (I used chickpea for extra protein)

It doesn’t get better than this. They’re easy to make, refined sugar free, plant based, gluten free and full of fibre! If you like more of a traditional brownie add 1/4 cup more almond flour and leave out the oats. There are so many ways to enjoy these!

Healthier Double Chocolate Oat Bars

1 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 flax eggs (or eggs)
2 Tbsp maple syrup
½ cup date powder
½ cup creamy peanut butter
3 Tbsp melted coconut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¾ cup fine almond flour
½ cup cocoa powder
½ cup rolled oats
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup dark chocolate chunks, plus more for the top if desired

Mix applesauce, flax eggs, syrup, peanut butter, coconut oil, vanilla and date powder in a bowl. Stir in the almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt and oats. Stir in the dark chocolate chunks. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Let cool for 15-20 minutes. They’re a little harder to cut this way but eating them while they’re still warm is elite. Enjoy!!

Did you know that your ability to do push-ups might be a powerful indicator of your cardiovascular health? Recent research suggests that push-ups are not just a test of muscle strength but also a predictor of cardiovascular disease events.

A study conducted by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that men who could perform more than 40 push-ups had a significantly lower risk of cardiovascular disease compared to those who could do fewer than 10. Specifically, those in the high push-up group had a 96% reduction in cardiovascular disease events over a 10-year period!
Push-ups engage multiple muscle groups and require core stability, reflecting overall physical fitness.
There’s nothing magical about push-ups specifically, they’re very likely acting as a proxy for overall fitness for most of the people in the study. That being said, I am always on the look-out for physical activity that is free and easy to do from home!! Start slow and gradually increase the number of push-ups you can do!

SNICKERS GRANOLA!!!!!
Peanuts, chewy dates, crunchy granola, and chocolate…. It’s literally the best thing I’ve ever eaten. I hope you guys love it too!!

Peanut butter granola

1.5 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup puffed quinoa
1/3 cup date powder
1 tsp vanilla
1//4 cup apple sauce
1/4 cup peanut butter
pinch salt
Mix the applesauce, vanilla, salt and peanut butter and warm about 30 seconds in the microwave. You can add 2-3 Tbsp of water if it’s too thick (mine was because I used homemade applesauce). Pour over the oats, quinoa, and date powder.
Bake at 300F (150C) for 20-30 minutes. I used convection, so it may take a few minutes longer in a conventional oven. Cool.

Caramel Granola

Healthy Chocolate Fudge Banana Bread

1 cup whole wheat flour (pastry flour is best)
½ cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup Tahini (or any nut butter)
3 medium bananas (crushed)
2 eggs (or 2 flax eggs)
½ cup date powder
½ cup plain yogourt of choice
¼ cup milk (I use flax or soy)
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (divided)

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl in the order above. Pour into a loaf pan and sprinkle more chocolate on top. Bake at 350F or 175C for 45-55 minutes. Enjoy the chocolatey goodness!
PS. I like my desserts on the less sweet side. If you like yours a little sweeter, feel free to replace half or all of the date powder with another sweetener like brown sugar, monk fruit etc. Enjoy!

I’m so excited!!!! This oat ice cream is beyond fabulous and so easy to make. It is rich, creamy, dairy free and refined sugar free, and no banana or coconut! You are 5 ingredients away from ice cream perfection.
I used an ice cream maker, but you could also just put it into a loaf pan a freeze for a few hours. Whiz it up in the food processor after freezing for extra creaminess. If you don’t have a high speed blender, soak the cashews before you blend. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Thank goodness birthdays only come once a year, lol. Every year my kids get so excited to choose what kind of birthday cake they want me to make. The design gets chosen well in advance of the birthday, and I spend many a long night putting it together. Birthday cakes are more than the sum of their ingredients, they represent celebration and joy and love. Watching their eyes light up when the cake comes out is priceless. And you don’t even care that your toddler spat all over the frosting while trying to blow the candle out😂.

I don’t bake birthday cakes at home because I think they need to be “healthy”. We eat lots of fruits and veggies in our house, but the birthday cakes I bake have butter/oil, sugar, and chocolate.

I saw an RD online yesterday, talking about how some patients find it confusing and alienating to be told “just eat a Mediterranean diet”. And fair enough. Which part of the Mediterranean? What foods? Can I eat anything I used to eat? It’s a lot.
I think it’s important to remember that it’s a dietary pattern, and that you can get there with literally any cuisine on earth.
My partner is Egyptian and loves Ful Medames for breakfast. It has everything that is considered health promoting about a Mediterranean diet; legumes, lean protein, lots of fruit and veg, polyunsaturated fats, and whole grains. It’s not magically less health promoting because it’s Egyptian instead of “Mediterranean”. If you do not enjoy the foods you are eating, that’s not going to be a sustainable eating pattern long term. Joy is an ingredient, don’t leave it out!

Salted Caramel Chocolate Tarts

For the tarts
1 ½ cups almond flour
½ cup oat flour
½ cup cashew butter
3 Tbsp maple syrup
1 Tbsp coconut oil
Pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp almond extract (optional)
Mix and press into a 12 cup muffin tin. Press in the center to make a well, I used my mortar! Bake at 350F (175C) for about 15 minutes.

For the caramel
10 medjool dates
2 Tbsp Peanut butter
1-2 Tbsp maple syrup
Pinch salt
1-2 Tbsp water
Blend it up and fill your tart shells with delicious caramel.
Top with melted chocolate and flakey salt if desired and enjoy!

This Pistachio Butter Banana Bread is made with whole grains and absolutely no oil. It’s perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even dessert. Plus, it’s super easy to make and easy to make plant based with a few quick swaps! I actually used half pistachio butter and half tahini, because I am always looking for ways to get my previously allergic child to eat sesame. It’s delicious either way!

1 cup whole wheat flour (pastry flour is best)
1 cup quick oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup pistachio butter (or any nut butter)
3 medium bananas (crushed)
2 eggs (or 2 flax eggs)
1/4 cup date powder or maple syrup
½ cup thick unsweetened yogourt
¼ cup milk (I use chickpea)
1 tsp vanilla
¼ cup chocolate chips (optional)
Additional pistachio butter for topping (optional)

Mix the flour, oats, baking powder and soda, cinnamon and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, crush the bananas, then stir in the pistachio butter, eggs, date powder, yogourt, milk and vanilla. Pour in the flour mixture and stir until combined, then add the dark chocolate chips, if using. Bake at 350F (175C) for 20-25 mins for muffins (45-55 minutes for a loaf). Enjoy!

Spoiler alert they’re not.

Even if they worked, and I am tolerably certain that they mostly don’t, you still don’t need them. If you are metabolically healthy, then temporary fluctuations in blood glucose after a meal are not something to pathologize. If you are diabetic or pre-diabetic, please talk to your doctor, but you still don’t need this supplement. There are loads of lifestyle interventions that can help maintain healthy blood sugar levels. I know you’ve all heard me sing this song before; eat a plant forward diet with lots of protein and fibre, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, stay hydrated, don’t get sucked into paying $$$ for supplements that are unregulated and unnecessary.

It is hot enough for ice-cream today, but I definitely didn’t have time to make any, lol. 15 minute peanut butter and jam icecreams to the rescue! I made them for my kids, and they’re already decently high in protein from the Greek yogourt and the powdered peanut butter, but you can also add protein powder if you want a little boost. If you’re plant based, just swap out Greek yogourt for your favourite plant based yogourt. They are so delicious! Frozen yogourt can sometimes form some bigger ice crystals, so I’d recommend taking them out about 15 minutes before you’re planning on eating them.

Peanut Butter and Jam Ice-cream Bars

For the peanut butter ice-cream
1 cup Greek yogourt (or dairy free yogourt)
½ cup powdered peanut butter
Pinch salt
1 Tbsp peanut butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp maple syrup
Mix and place in a mould, or just dollop onto parchment paper.

For the Raspberry filling
I used my homemade raspberry chia jam
But you can also crush up about 1/3 cup raspberries with about 3Tbsp of your favourite sugar free raspberry jam.
Spread raspberry mixture on top of the peanut butter ice-cream and freeze until firm.

Dip your ice-cream bars in melted dark chocolate and Enjoy!

My healthy sticky toffee pudding is the perfect balance of indulgence and nutrition. Made with wholesome ingredients, this dessert is dairy-free, refined sugar-free and plant based. Delicious enough to eat for dessert or breakfast! It’s easy to make, with simple ingredients. I didn’t bother with the monk fruit, but it’s optional for those who like their desserts a little sweeter!

Healthier sticky Toffee pudding

1½ cups medjool dates (soften in 1 cup boiling water)
½ cup Tahini
2 Tbsp maple syrup
2 Tbsp Coconut or other neutral oil
1½ tsp Vanilla extract
1 cup chickpea or soy milk (or milk of choice)
½ cup oat flour
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1½ tsp cinnamon
2-4 Tbsp monk fruit (optional)

Blend dates with enough of the water to make a puree (discard remaining water). Remove about ½ cup and place the rest on a bowl. Add Tahini, maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla and milk and stir well. Add in the oat flour, pastry flour, baking powder and soda, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until combined. Bake in a loaf pan at 350F (175C) for 40-50 minutes. Let cool and then spread the caramel on top.

For the caramel topping
About ½ cup reserved date puree
1 Tbsp Almond butter Tahini
1-2 Tbsp maple syrup (to taste)
½ tsp vanilla
Pinch salt
Mix well.

I am obsessed with these raspberry poptart protein bars, they’re great after a workout or as an afternoon pick me up.
I used plain, unsweetened, organic pea protein, and unsweetened nut butter and powder, because I like that they are neutral and I can add flavour to my taste. So feel free to add flavoured protein or extra sweetener. You can always taste the mixture and adjust to your taste before you press it into the pan.

Raspberry Poptart protein fudge

1½ cup nut butter (cashew or almond are best)
1½ cup nut butter powder (cashew or almond are best)
¾ cup protein powder
2 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp maple syrup (or more to taste)
4-5 Tbsp water or milk of choice (I used chickpea)
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, you are looking for the texture of a slightly crumbly playdough. You can add more or less milk to achieve the right texture. Press half of the mixture into a square pan. Top with about 1/3 cup jam, I used a homemade chia seed jam, but any sugar free jam is fine. I threw it in the freezer for a few minutes to make the next part easier. Crumble the remaining protein dough on top of the jam layer and flatten.

1 tsp coconut oil (optional)

Melt 1 cup chocolate with 1 tsp coconut oil (the oil is not strictly necessary, but does improve the texture of the finished product). Pour the chocolate over the peanut butter mixture and refrigerate. Cut into squares and enjoy!. I like to keep it in the fridge or freezer.

These tahini chocolate chip muffins are so moist and fluffy! They contain no oil or butter and no refined sugar. I have been looking for ways to get more sesame in our diet, as my oldest just finished OIT for a sesame allergy. These muffins are literally the best. I have made them a million different ways, with different swaps and they always come out perfect. You can use any nut butter, eggs or flax eggs, dairy or non-dairy yogourt, I have tried them every which way and they are a breakfast staple at our house. They also freeze beautifully for busy mornings!

Tahini chocolate chip muffins

1 cup whole wheat flour (pastry flour is best)
1 cup quick oats
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
½ cup Tahini (or any nut butter)
3 medium bananas (crushed)
2 eggs (or 2 flax eggs)
1/3 cup date powder
½ cup plain yogourt
¼ cup milk (I use flax or soy)
1 tsp vanilla

Mix the flour, oats, baking powder and soda, cinnamon and salt in a bowl. In another bowl, crush the bananas, then stir in the tahini, eggs, date powder, yogourt, milk and vanilla. Pour in the flour mixture and stir until combined. Mix-ins are optional but oh so good. Here I added dark chocolate chips, about half a cup, and some fresh raspberries. Bake at 350F (175C) for 20-25 mins. Enjoy!

Mother’s Day always brings up complex feelings, and it’s ok to feel them all❤️.

The year my mom died, it felt like I couldn’t get away from mother’s day. I was in my early thirties, and I didn’t really know anyone else who’d lost their mother; it was a pretty lonely feeling.

As I’ve had children of my own, it’s become more of a mixed bag. I still miss my mom, but I love the tiny hand crafted gifts and all the hugs and kisses I get from my littles. I’ve also realised how much I appreciate my sisters and the wonderful women in my life who have helped fill the void. And I know that I can take time during the day to appreciate her, even if she’s not here to receive it.
I’ve learned a few things over the years.
It’s ok to be sad and happy at the same time, even if it feels a little weird, and it’s ok to speak up when you’re not ok.

To those who have lost moms or bonus moms, who have a difficult relationship with mom, to moms who have lost children, or those who wish they were moms, to anyone who has complex feelings about this holiday, we see you. Be kind to yourself, give yourself permission to feel whatever you need to feel, and talk it out if you need to. It is part of self-care, and it is so important.
You are not alone.

I just saw a video where some guy claiming to be a Dr) was saying that you should only eat bananas as a treat on your birthday because they’re high in sugar and cause type 2 diabetes. Not only is this utter nonsense, but multiple studies have shown that incorporating fruits into your diet may lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. A meta-analysis published in the British Medical Journal found that each
serving of fruit per day was associated with a significant reduction in the
risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Another study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported similar
findings, highlighting the protective effects of fruits against this metabolic
disorder. Fruits are bursting with nutrients and fibre, and they’re delicious.

I am also baffled at the idea of blaming rising rates of type 2 diabetes on foods that most of us are not even eating. Most people eating a standard north American diet are not getting the recommended number of servings of fruits and vegetables every day.

Aim to include a colorful array of fruits in your meals and snacks. Berries, citrus fruits, apples, and pears are excellent choices. And don’t forget about frozen and unsweetened dried fruits—they’re convenient options that still pack a nutritional punch! So please, eat the banana, even if it’s not your birthday.

2 minute Reese’s Protein Pancake Bowl!

It does not get easier than this. You are 2 minutes away from a delicious breakfast or snack. You can top it with peanut butter and maple syrup or whipped cream and chocolate sauce, it’s so versatile. I tend to prefer things a little less sweet, but you can definitely add some additional sweetener if you like. You can also replace the egg white with a flax egg and keep it plant based. I hope you guys love this one as much as I do! Microwave cook times are wildly variable, this took 1 minute and 30 seconds in my microwave, but it could definitely be more or less depending on the depth of the container and the wattage of your microwave.

¼ up powdered peanut butter
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 Tbsp chocolate protein powder (or 2 Tbsp oat flour)
2 Tbsp date powder (you can use more sweetener or a different sweetener)

¼ cup chickpea milk

Healthier Pistachio Knafeh (kunafa) chocolate bites!

When I first saw the viral kunafa chocolates, I was honestly a bit confused. My partner is Egyptian and my mother-in-law makes fabulous kunafa, but it is a dessert pastry that is stuffed with a cheese mixture and dipped in honey syrup. It is incredibly popular in this incarnation though, so I decided to make a healthier version of it, and it is absolutely delicious! You can add protein powder, or chia seeds if you want, it’s very adaptable. If you want it a little more similar to the viral version, just add more of the pistachio cream.

Healthier Pistachio Knafeh (kunafa) chocolates

¾ cup kataifi (thinly sliced phyllo dough)
½ cup oat flour
½ cup ground flax
Pinch salt
2-3 Tbsp maple syrup (depending on how sweet you like it)
1Tbsp Tahini
½ cup pistachio cream
2 tsp vanilla
Pinch salt

For Coating
¾ cup chocolate
½ tsp Coconut oil (optional)

Chop the kataifi into pieces and toast in a pan with a spray of oil until golden brown, let cool. Mix Kataifi shreds in a bowl with the oat flour, ground flax and salt. Add the pistachio cream, tahini, maple syrup, and vanilla, and mix well. Form into balls (I used a little icecream scoop). Dip in melted chocolate and refrigerate until firm. Enjoy!

So apparently raw milk is safe, but twinkies are not. I am definitely not using the same dictionary as this person.

There is so much misinformation about raw milk, with a lot of people claiming it’s safe and more nutritious than pasteurized milk. The nutrient differences are nominal, and it is just not worth the risk of illness. It is not safe.
A single twinkie is no going to make you sick, it is safe. If you told me that you only ate twinkies, then I’d be very concerned that you are missing out on the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that whole foods can provide. So apparently raw milk is safe, but twinkies are not. I am definitely not using the same dictionary as this person.

There is so much misinformation about raw milk, with a lot of people claiming it’s safe and more nutritious than pasteurized milk. The nutrient differences are nominal, and it is just not worth the risk of illness. It is not safe.
A single twinkie is no going to make you sick, it is safe. If you told me that you only ate twinkies, then I’d be very concerned that you are missing out on the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that whole foods can provide.
